Hey loves! Happy Monday. I’m going to just jump right into today’s post because it’s going to be a long one. As you can tell from the title, we are moving! We knew this day might come with Steven graduating his PhD program in June but we weren’t totally sure where that would take us. There was about a 50/50 shot of us staying in the DC area because we knew an opportunity would present itself here but Steven received an incredible offer and an opportunity that we could not pass up which will be taking us to…..Boston! If y’all remember we visited Boston last month very briefly and that was actually to go apartment hunting. We were lucky enough while there to find something opening up in July which is when we will be relocating and we really do love the area and the apartment itself!
To say that this has been a very emotional and challenging decision would be an understatement. Not only do we have our home in Virginia but we also have my parents and other close relatives nearby, many of my friends, and of course my job. Even though I knew this was a very strong possibility, I don’t think I ever really expected us to leave so soon. I thought maybe in 5 or so more years we would relocate but not only 2 years after moving into our house. Sometimes you can make plans but really only God has control and the offer Steven received is a once in a lifetime opportunity and honestly kind of beyond his wildest dreams! I’m SO proud of him. He has busted his butt for the last 6 years in a very intensive Bioengineering program and seeing such hard work pay-off is really exciting.
I knew that when we got married, it would be a lot of following him with each new opportunity because his field is very niche while with my profession I can work almost anywhere. I did receive AMAZING news last week that I will be able to retain my current job after relocating. I can't even tell you how happy I was when I found out! I started a new role in January of this year and I have LOVED it so the thought of leaving this job behind and starting a new one seriously weighed on my heart. To get to stay on and work from home is the biggest blessing!
Even though we’re almost 30 I feel like this was the first big adult decision we’ve made (especially as a married couple) because we really were starting to grow roots here in Virginia and we felt very comfortable. It definitely involved a lot of long conversations and tears but at this stage we are so excited for the move and the next adventure in our marriage! We will see how things progress but as of now we believe we will be in Boston for the next 2-3 years and then possibly moving on to a new location after that. We definitely intend to take full advantage of our time in Boston with lots of sightseeing, weekend trips to all the gorgeous New England cities, Red Sox games, lobster rolls and more!
I’ll definitely be sharing more about our move as it gets closer but for now, we can’t wait for this next journey!
