Favorite MD & VA Wineries + FF Link-Up!

Coat (Sold out from Zara, almost identical here), Sweater, Booties (similar)

Happy Wednesday friends! Are you guys prepping for Thanksgiving tomorrow? We are just doing a small Thanksgiving this year with my parents which will be nice and low-key.

Today, I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite local wineries since that has been the bulk of our activities this year. There are SO many between Maryland and Virginia but I tried to narrow it down to my top 5 that are within an hour or so from DC. There are tons in lower VA that could be a whole separate post. I tried to stick with those that could be a quick little trip if you're staying in DC!

1.) Windridge Vineyards (Darnestown, MD) - this is the one we have frequented most because it's only 20 minutes from our house and I LOVE the wine! The ambience is nice and we always sit at the Adirondack chairs. You cant go wrong with any of their red wines.

2.) Barrel Oak Winery (Delaplane, VA) - this was the first winery we visited when we lived in Virginia and the best part is it's very dog friendly! They have great wine and their sangria is even better. They also always have some great live music (pre-COVID).

3.) Black Ankle Vineyards (Mount Airy, MD) - we love the outdoor seating options between their patio/courtyard/lawn seating. The winery itself is also adorable. This vineyard has a great white wine selection!

4.) Stone Tower Winery (Leesburg, VA) - this is definitely one of the more upscale wineries of the bunch and I think is often a wedding venue! The views are gorgeous and it definitely feels like more of an experience. They also have great food!

5.) Bluemont Vineyard (Bluemont, VA) - while the wine here is not my absolute favorite, the views are probably the best of the bunch! It's perfectly positioned at the hilltop overlooking the vineyards and rolling hills. It's pretty breathtaking.

I hope you guys have a great Thanksgiving!

  1. Happy Thanksgiving. I'll have to keep this post in mind once we begin traveling again. I love a good winery especially if we are have time to explore outside of a big city.
