Little Life Update

Happy Monday friends! Hope y'all had a great weekend. This post is going to be a more personal one so I'm just going to dive right in. As most of y'all know, we moved to Boston in July of this year and I was fortunate enough that my company from Virginia allowed me to stay on and work completely remote. While I have been SO grateful for that opportunity especially with so many other changes happening in my life, it was pretty tough. For those that don't know, I work in HR which is a very people-facing industry so to go from working with my team every day and working closely with employees in-person to being home alone all day in a new city it was a big adjustment. As an adult I have always made a lot of my close friends through work and honestly my job has always just made me feel so independent and connected to something. Since we've been here, I have been totally clinging to every minute with Steven because he really is my only person here! We've also been pretty lucky to have a lot of visitors since the move but ultimately having visitors isn't helping me feel connected to our life here.

After about 2 months of totally wallowing in being homesick and counting down the days until our lease was up, something totally flipped a switch and I started to really like Boston and the homesickness mostly went away! It was then that I felt like I needed to start looking for a job here so that I could feel more connected to our life here, get out of the apartment and just have an experience that was my own--not just latching onto Steven's.

So ultimately that was a very long-winded way of saying that this past month I had been interviewing for a new job, resigned my job from Virginia and have started a new job! I interviewed a ton and I was fortunate enough to find something that will be a great growth opportunity and also with an organization that I REALLY like. It honestly felt like something totally clicked with this team and I think it's going to be an amazing fit.

If I'm a little slow to respond to comments/comment back it's because I'm still in training mode at work but once I'm more adjusted I'm sure I'll get back to my normal schedule! Needless to say, I'm VERY excited about the future and this new beginning.

  1. CONGRATS girl,so exciting! When we moved to Florida, as much as I loved it here I dealt with homesickness and loneliness for the first year. Falling into a fantastic group of friends, and being happy at work truly make a difference. Now I can't imagine ever calling any other place home. Have an amazing first few days at the new gig, you're going to rock it <3

  6. That's great! Congratulations! Moving can be very isolating so I'm sure when you were used to being with people daily it was even more magnified. Good luck with the new job!

  7. That's amazing dear! Congratulations! I think you have made the right decision to find a job in a city where you reside, as you've said, that's what will make you feel connected to the city and the people. Anyway, wishing you all the best!

  8. This is awesome news, lady- I know exactly what you mean about not feeling connected to a place until you've put down your own roots + followed your own path. I love that you've found something you love!
