5 "Trendy" Pieces that are Worth Buying

Happy Monday friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Friday, I'll be honest we were TOTALLY pooped since it was our first full week back in a while so we ended up just staying in and ordering take-out. Saturday, we met new friends of ours for brunch and got to meet their precious baby boy for the first time! It's so nice that we're starting to make friends in our new city. After that I got my nails done and Sunday pretty much just cleaned and worked on getting our apartment ready for my two best friends coming in town this upcoming weekend!

I think I'm pretty selective when it comes to investing in anything overly trendy. I really (especially over the last 5+ months) have been trying to only purchase items that I know will get years of wear and I purged my closet of a lot of pieces that don't stand the test of time. There are a few trends that I personally like that seem to be here to stay at least for a few more years! These trends I think are worth adding to your closet and don't always come with an outrageous price tag.

1.) Leopard anything--Leopard pieces have been "on trend" for so long that I don't know if you can really call it a trend anymore. Fall/winter 2018 in particular we were seeing a TON of it and I'm not mad about it. Since leopard can really be a more muted print, I think it's a more "classic" trend and definitely worth adding to your closet. Here are a few of my favorite leopard pieces below:

2.) Teddy Coats/Jackets--Even though I ADMIRED teddy coats on other people for the last 2-3 years, I never added any pieces to my closet until this season! I feel like the teddy trend is also one that has been around long enough and probably will be around at least for the next year or two more. I definitely have seen some teddy coats that are a little over the top for my taste but below are a few that I LOVE and think are super wearable:

3.) Checkered blazers--This is another trend that took me a while to buy into and I don't even know that I "officially" have. Even though I love and have a TON of blazers, I only have one checkered in my closet and I do love it. I REALLY love the look on other people, I just don't know how I feel about it on myself which is why I haven't purchased any more. I don't know that you need a closet full of them but I really think it's worth the investment to add one to your wardrobe! My favorite way I've see them styled is paired over a graphic or band tee! Here are a few checkered blazers I have my eye on:

4.) Distressed hem jeans--I LOVE this trend and hope that it will be around for a few more years. It's such a fun way to spice up a pair of jeans and I love the way a distressed hem looks over booties or flats. I think Levi's really has the best "distressed-hem" options but I have a pair from J. Crew linked below that are probably my favorite pair of jeans of all time!

5.) Baker-boy hats--If you've been following my blog for a while, you would know that I've always been a big fan of hats. With the baker-boy hat trend, I actually LOVE the look of them but if I'm being honest, I haven't found one yet that I like on myself [the one pictured above didn't fit my head right so I donated it]. I feel like it's a matter of finding the right color/print where I'll actually get a lot of use out of it. Here are a few I have my eye on:

Let me know if y'all enjoyed this post! For 2019, I'm planning on doing more fashion advice/informative content like this.

  9. I may have to try the baker boy-style hat! It looks great on you! I really like hats, but I’ve had trouble finding one that fits my head well (except for beanies, ). Hats can be tricky! I’d love to hear what you think about my animal print skirt in my latest blog post, I agree that leopard, and all things animal print, are not going anywhere, any time soon! Great post!!

  10. I love your 5 picks and I agree that leopard has been trending so long now that it is just a classic with staying power at this point. The same with checkered blazers and I think any kind of distressed denim. I do love baker boy hats, too, and have a small collection at this point! Great post!
