How I'm Staying Fit at Home!

Sorry the quality of these photos is kind of poor, I wanted to take them with all our equipment but our basement is SUPER dark!
Happy Monday friends! I hope y'all had a great weekend. We spent almost all of it outside with family and friends which was so great. I also got my hair done which felt AMAZING. I was very impressed with how my salon handled everything and how clean they were keeping it throughout the whole process!

Today, I wanted to share with you guys how Steven and I have been staying fit during "quarantine." Surprisingly enough, health & fitness has been a huge focus of ours since stay-home orders back in March. It has been obviously keeping us in shape but mentally it has been so helpful. My anxiety has really stayed at bay during all of this and I think it's because I'm working out often.

We had every intention of furnishing our basement but since we are just renting and plan to buy a house at the end of the year, we decided to hold off and instead just use the basement for gym equipment. Definitely best decision we made this year! I thought I would share with you guys all of the equipment in our home gym that has gotten a ton of use.

Home Gym Equipment:

Big Investments
-NordicTrack Treadmill with 1 year free iFit - this was definitely the best purchase we could have made and it's funny that we did it prior to COVID. Our treadmill came with 1 year subscription to iFit and I can tell you with certainty that we will be renewing our subscription. I am obsessed with the studio classes which keep me super focused and disciplined. If you have iFit, check out any of Betina Gozo's workouts. She does mainly HIIT (alternating sprints/inclines/etc.) so you get a really intense workout but it isn't super long. Most of her classes that I enjoy are about 20-30 minutes. I run 5-6 days per week.
-Fitness Subscriptions - Like I mentioned, I've been doing mainly the iFit treadmill classes and then I follow that up with weight training (I just do my own thing or I will find a YouTube workout). Steven bought a subscription to BeachBody On Demand and he has really been enjoying that! I think a lot of their classes don't even require equipment.
Even though these are bigger investments, they end up paying for themselves when you factor in the cost of gym memberships/time saving.

Smaller Investments
Resistance Bands - We have two different types of resistance bands both purchased from Amazon. I primarily use this kind and Steven mostly uses these. I like this kind for adding resistance into leg/booty workouts like lunges, squats, etc.
Weights (we have 3lb, 5lb, and 10lb) - I try to do 2 "arm toning" workouts per week (I use the 3lb weights for this) and then 1 day of more "muscle building" workouts. I use the 10lb weights for muscle building which...lol I'm so weak! We plan on adding some heavier weights to our collection for Steven but weights can be really expensive! We usually just keep our eye out for good deals.
Yoga Mats - I bought mine from Amazon (linked here).
Exercise Ball - This was also a great purchase! So awesome for ab exercises, leg exercises, etc. This is the one that we bought.

Even though I am working out at home, let's be honest, it's still motivating to have really cute workout gear! Below, I'm linking some of my favorite gear:

  4. This is such a great idea, and it sounds like you have a good routine. We have definitely thought about getting a treadmill during COVID, but they are all sold out. LOL!

  5. Girrrrrl, I love that treadmill! I looked into getting one a few weeks ago because who KNOWS when it'll truly be safe enough to get back into the gym. I've been adding to my home workouts with bands, hand weights, and kettlebells and then finding workouts to do while I binge a Bravo show! And Dave and I have been hitting the trails on our bikes a few times a week for cardio. It's been a weird adjustment, but I'm kinda in the groove now!
