Products that Saved My Hair!

Hi friends! I hope you guys had a great weekend. Since the weather was so nice, on Friday we went out for drinks as soon as we logged off work. On Saturday, we drove up to Frederick (one of our favorite places) for the first time since before COVID and had such a blast. We explored the antique shops, ate brunch outside, and scoped out all of our favorite historic houses. It was a great weekend!

In the middle of last year, I noticed that my hair was definitely thinning and breaking a bit. The worst of it was when I noticed a bald spot right around my hairline!

This photo was taken around December of last year and the one above was taken last month. I definitely see a difference in the texture/volume of my hair!

After that I pretty much completely revamped my hair care and I have seen a HUGE difference. Below are pictures of the bald spot and how it is pretty much completely filled in. These are the main steps I took to improve my hair!

1.) Switched my shampoos to ones free of sulfates. I now alternate between Olaplex (linked here) and Living Proof (linked here).  I also use this volumizing (sulfate-free) conditioner. Not only did this improve the health/strength of my hair but it also cleared up my super itchy scalp!

Vegamour was also kind enough to gift me their Gro Revitalizing Shampoo, Conditioner, and Scalp Detoxifying Treatment Serum. I really have been enjoying all of these products, especially the Shampoo. It reminds me of the Olaplex because it's super thick in consistency but still lathers really well and feels so luxurious on your hair. The shampoo and conditioner both have a minty, fresh scent which I really enjoy. The Detoxifying Treatment Serum has been great because this time of year shifting from summer to fall I tend to experience some issues with my scalp. I definitely have seen an improvement in the flakiness and the condition of my hair since using it.

2.) I started using the Vegamour Hair Serum (linked here). For the first few months I was using it almost every single day especially around my hairline. Now I only use it right after I wash my hair which is typically twice a week! I really do think this contributed in big part to filling in that little bald spot at my hairline. I'm super excited because Vegamour products are now sold at Sephora making it even more convenient to pick up these products when I'm doing my regular refills.

3.) I started to be more consistent with taking my vitamins. I hate to admit I was really bad about it for years but now I take this multi-vitamin every day as well as this biotin supplement (when I remember).

4.) I started using a Wet Brush on wet hair...again I'm ashamed to say it took me this long to start using a Wet Brush but I started early last year.

5.) I had my stylist do a more natural balayage this last time so I can space out my time between coloring even longer. I think the next time I go, I'll go even darker/more natural. Because of COVID and also just wanting to cut down on getting my hair colored, I am averaging only getting my hair colored twice a year (with one or two appointments to tone it in between). I also ask for an Olaplex treatment every time I do go.

6.) I don't know that this has "helped" the health of my hair, however, I did want to mention it because it's a product I really enjoy. Steven bought me this Hot Tools Blow Dryer Brush for my birthday and I LOVE it. I wait until my hair is about 80% air-dried and then go through my hair with this brush to really focus on volume and blowing out the ends. My hair feels so smooth after using it and since I use it on the low setting, I don't feel like it fries my hair as much as my old blow-dryer did. Highly recommend!

  3. The sleeveless bodysuit adds that sensuous edginess and slightly quirky feel that separates the women from the girls. If they look at you once, they will look at you thrice! Bare gleaming arms and the bodysuit are a match made in heaven and they way we style it, you are going to enjoy wearing it
