The Shacket I'm Living In + FF Link-Up!

Shacket (also similar here & here), Sweater, Leggings, Combat Boots (Similar), Beanie

Hi friends! I hope you're having a great week so far. Work has been such a whirlwind lately but honestly I have enjoyed being really busy again since we were slower towards the end of the year. Also, I just wanted to thank you guys for all the comments and sweet messages I got on Instagram about my last blog post! We are so excited about the house and can't wait to share more once we are moved in.

If you guys follow me on IG, you may have already seen I styled this shacket 3 ways on my reels and have been in love with it ever since! The colors go with everything in my closet and it actually is WAY warmer than I expected. It keeps going in and out of stock but I also linked some similar options I'm loving!

We Bought a House!

Hi friends! I'm so excited to finally hit publish on this post. It's not a major secret, most of our family and close friends know but I was hesitant to actually put it out on the blog or on my Instagram until things felt more official. Even though we don't close on the house until April, I feel pretty confident at this point to share that we bought a house!

First and foremost, we didn't just buy a house but it is a build in a new community nearby! We are SO excited about it and are also so glad we went this route (so far). It has been so fun to customize the house and to see it's progress. We drive by almost every week now that they are in full construction mode!

Just a quick little recap of our experience if you guys are interested. We started the process in late October which was a little early considering the lease for our current house doesn't end until April but we had heard horror stories about the buying right now so we wanted to get a head-start. Our realtors (yes, we had 2) were absolutely wonderful and in our first meeting they actually showed us a PERFECT house. I'm talking perfect--it was very close to our current neighborhood and had 2 screened in porches + a huge yard! I couldn't believe it but we actually went ahead and put an offer in on it within our first week of meeting with our realtors. We felt like it was too good to pass up and even though I had a mini panic attack after submitting the paperwork, we knew if our offer was accepted we would be thrilled. Well...needless to say it was not and they had probably upwards of 15 other offers.

This was just the start and pretty much set the tone for the rest of our experience! We ended up putting offers in on 3 other houses, 2 of which we felt like we REALLY had a shot. We were outbid every single time either with cash offers OR people were waiving the home-inspection or appraisal (which we were not in a position to do as first-time homebuyers). While we still had PLENTY of time before our lease was up, I definitely was feeling defeated and we knew that inventory was just going to drop over the next few months. This was when our realtors suggested we look at new builds.

We started making appointments at several new communities in the area and actually fell in love with the location of the very first one we looked at because there is so much to do within walking distance. They also had one lot left that checked all of our boxes and had a "delivery" date of April/May which is when our lease ends. We signed all the paperwork, picked out the finishes of our house, and they just started framing a few weeks ago!

Get ready for lots of home content leading up to and after we move in because it's pretty much the only thing on my brain right now!

Bundled in Neutrals + FF Link-Up!

Sweater, Similar Scarf, Jeans, Booties, Beanie

Happy Wednesday & Inauguration Day friends! I hope you guys had a great weekend and if you had Monday off, I hope you enjoy it. Steven and I spent most of the weekend outside since the temperature wasn't too bad and also ran a lot of errands which was nice! I enjoy any opportunity to get out of the house at this point.

Are you guys starting to shop for spring yet or are you in winter mode still? I'm definitely still in winter mode since February and March tend to be the coldest months in the DC area. Spring is also not my favorite season for fashion so still clinging to those winter layers!

Casual Teddy Coat Outfit + FF Link-Up!

Coat, Sweater, Leggings, Sneakers, Cap

Hi friends! I hope you guys are having a great week so far. Is it dragging or anyone else? I am excited about another 3 day weekend coming up! The weather is actually supposed to be in the mid-40s to low 50s and sunny all week so I'm hoping we can squeeze in some fun outdoor activities while it's not frigid!

I have been living in leggings and these Veja sneakers since fall and I'm not mad about it! These sneakers were definitely one of my best 2020 investments and probably the most worn in my closet. I don't know if this would count as athleisure but it's definitely my version of it. This cozy sweater is from last year but it comes in and out of stock on several websites still!

Cozy Sweater & Combat Boots + FF Link-Up!

Sweater, Jeans, Boots, Beanie (similar)

Hi friends! I hope you guys are having a great week so far. Work has been relatively busy now that we're back in the swing of things and I started a PMP certification course so that has been taking some time. My goal is to take the exam in March or April! Is your work still pretty slow from the holidays or is it starting to pick back up to normal pace?

I am just living in big sweaters and combat boots this winter. What I love about sweaters like this one is they're great for lounging around the house (which many of us are doing most days) but they also look adorable with jeans or even thrown over a dress! This sweater is such a cozy chenille material and I love the shade of olive.

Our Favorite Shows to Stream Recently

Happy New Year friends! I can't believe we are officially in 2021. I'm feeling pretty refreshed after 2 weeks of relaxing (more or less) and am ready to get back to being super productive. I said I wasn't going to set goals but I actually did end up privately setting some very realistic but still significant goals. What about you guys? One goal I will share was to really branch out with more lifestyle content over here on the blog so on that note, I'll jump into today's topic.

Last year I published a post on our favorite shows of all time to stream (linked here) but since then we have added so many more to the list that I wanted to share today because let's be honest, we still have quite some time before we're back to normalcy.

Series/Mini-Series

The Crown (Netflix) - I was definitely late to the game on this one especially as someone who is obsessed with British culture & history. I'm only halfway through the series but I'm loving it and I think they did such a great job casting! If you are into the royal family (or even if not) I would highly recommend.

The Undoing (HBO) - This was our most recent watch (we just finished last week) and you will fly through it if you haven't seen it already. I'm a big crime thriller gal (which I'm sure you know if you've seen any of my book reviews) so this was right up my alley. I don't want to give too much away but just know it stars Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant, enough said.

The Queen's Gambit (Netflix) - This was definitely one of our favorite shows of 2020. The acting and the FASHION. Beth's outfits were all amazing and I love any story with a strong female lead. Who knew a show about chess could be so interesting?

Bridgerton (Netflix) - Y'all, I finished the first season in two days. If you loved Downton Abbey and Gossip Girl you'll definitely enjoy this show! It is a GREAT romance story and the costumes are gorgeous.

New Girl (Netflix) - the fact that this didn't make it on my original list pains me! It was definitely just an oversight because we have loved this show for years but recently rewatched from beginning to end. I can genuinely say I have never laughed so hard at a show, especially one I've seen before!

Downton Abbey (Amazon Prime) - This was included in my original list but after revisiting it recently and also finally watching the movie, I just had to mention it again here. If you are looking for a total escape and something to warm your heart, this is the BEST show. I think it has officially topped my list as favorite show of all time.

Ted Lasso (Apple TV) - I describe this show as a warm blanket because it really is the sweetest show! There is only one season so far and I can't wait for the next. It's about an American football coach taking over a British soccer team and it's funny, sweet, and has a lot of heart!

Outlander (Netflix & Starz) - I was a little late to the game on this show but the later half of last year I started and absolutely fell in love with this series. I actually read some of the books in college so I don't know why it took me so long to get on board with the show! You can watch up to Season 3 on Netflix and the rest of the series on Starz. It's a great romance and the lead actor is pretty gorgeous!

Mythic Quest (Apple TV) - If you like Always Sunny, then you will LOVE this show. It's a very similar humor although I think it's a little more "family friendly" for lack of a better term. It's about a gaming company and the quirky people that work there!

The Morning Show (Apple TV) - Another show that didn't make it on my original list but I actually had watched as soon as it came out last year. It stars Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon who is cast as Jennifer's morning show co-host after a "Me Too" scandal rocks the news station. The acting is phenomenal and I think they handled the subject matter well!

The Night of (HBO) - Another one I missed in my first post but we watched several years ago. After watching The Undoing it reminded me of how much we enjoyed this show and I completely forgot to add it in my post. If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favor and add it to your list especially if you love a crime thriller!

I'm going to do a separate post on favorite documentaries because I didn't want this post to be overly long! What are some shows you guys are loving?
